Turn an electric motor into a generator: Could an electric motor be used in reverse as a generator?

The source of kinetic energy for the rotor can be hydroelectric, wind, internal combustion engine, etc.

For this motor, a reciprocal magnetic field is generated by the alternating current AC. The windings are permanently fixed on the Stator, and the alternating AC current generates a reciprocal magnetic field - right above the coil that is permanently fixed.

On the Rotor, there are conductor frames, when a magnetic field changes through it, an electric current is generated. At this time, according to the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction and Lorentz force, will cause the rotor to rotate.

Now, the opposite is true, which is to cut off the AC power to the Stator, and to the rotary. The question is whether there is current generated at Stator now?

The answer is that no current is generated at the Stator, because the rotor is not a permanent magnet. No Lorentz force is set here.

Solution to AC electric motor becomes AC generator

Now, if you make 2 grooves in the Rotor, then attach 2 permanent magnets to them. Thus, the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction and Lorentz force will appear. With the note, the two magnets must be balanced on the rotor and the magnet strength must be good and heat resistant.

Thus, the AC motor can become an AC generator if we overcome the Rotor.
